## What is publishing?

Publish your blog posts directly to WordPress or Ghost from Scribeist. Your content, images, and SEO settings transfer automatically—no copy-pasting required.

**Available in:** Blog workspaces (technically available in all workspaces, but optimized for Blog)

---

## Supported platforms:

- **WordPress** - Self-hosted or WordPress.com
- **Ghost** - Self-hosted or Ghost.com

---

## Setting up publishing:

### WordPress:

**To connect:**

1. Workspace Settings → Publishing → WordPress
2. Enter site URL and Application Password
3. Click "Connect"

**Getting an Application Password:**
WordPress admin → Users → Profile → Application Passwords → Create new

**Requirements:** WordPress site with REST API enabled, Admin or Editor access

### Ghost:

**To connect:**

1. Workspace Settings → Publishing → Ghost
2. Enter site URL and Admin API Key
3. Click "Connect"

**Getting an Admin API Key:**
Ghost Admin → Settings → Integrations → Add custom integration → Copy Admin API Key

---

## Publishing connection limits:

Publishing connections are shared across all workspaces. You can connect to both WordPress and Ghost simultaneously, but only one site per platform at a time.

**To change sites:** Disconnect current platform → Connect to new site

---

## Publishing a post:

**To publish a blog post:**

1. Open your blog post.
2. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the workspace.
3. Select **Publish**.
   - If a publisher is already connected, choose it from the dropdown.
   - If no publisher is connected, follow the prompts to connect one, then repeat the steps above.
4. Choose your publishing options:
   - **Draft** or **Publish** (publish immediately)
   - Select **tags** and **categories** (pulled from your platform)
5. Click **Send**.

### What gets published

**Content:**

- Full blog post text with formatting
- Heading structure (H1, H2, H3)
- Links

**Images:**

- Uploaded to platform's media library
- Embedded in published post

**SEO:**

- Slug (URL)
- Meta description
- Keywords (as tags, if selected)

Tip

We recommend sending posts as **Drafts** first to confirm formatting and layout match your site's theme. Once you've tested a few posts and are confident everything displays correctly, you can consider publishing directly.

## Managing published posts

Once a post is sent to your publishing platform, it can no longer be edited directly from Scribeist. Changes made to the document in Scribeist will not automatically update the live post on your site.

To make updates, you can either edit the post directly on your publishing platform or resend the updated version from Scribeist.

### Deleting posts

Deleting in Scribeist doesn't delete from your site. To remove from your site, log into WordPress/Ghost and delete there.

## Troubleshooting:

### Connection failed

**Solutions:**

- Verify site URL is correct
- Check Application Password or API Key
- Ensure REST API is enabled (WordPress)
- Contact hosting provider if connection is blocked
- Disable security plugins temporarily to test

### Publishing failed

**Solutions:**

- Check connection status in Workspace Settings
- Verify you have publishing permissions
- Ensure tags/categories exist on platform first
- Try publishing as draft first

### Tags/categories not showing

**Solutions:**
